I remember situations like this happening a lot when I was younger and it definitely sùcks— I’m sorry to hear this :( I wish I can guarantee you that your relationship with your parents in this aspect will improve. It definitely can- I was lucky enough for my parents to stop setting higher standards for me than my brother- but I would be lying if i said it was definite. i do have some advice that might help though. at the end of the day, you have to remember that your parents are humans and they’re going to have opinions. now, does that mean their opinions are going to be right? absolutely not. no respect to your parents, but maybe you didn’t get into accelerated. okay, so? you studied hard and got into honors which is something you should definitely proud of. I know it’s easier said than done, but you shouldn’t base your value and your capabilities on someone’s opinions- that aren’t even based on facts might i add- regardless if they’re your parents. Because like I said before, your parents are still human. They’re going to have their opinions and they’re going to be wrong sometimes. I’d say use that doubt and false image of you to prove them wrong— well further wrong.

Getting into honors is amazing!! You should be proud despite what your parents think. There will always be someone above and below you. Don’t be too hard on yourself when you don’t meet your parents’ expectations. Only you know how hard you worked.
