oh and when she comes in to his class she could come in the back so he doesn't see her right away and he had earbuds in when the teacher said her name. then like some classmate of his in the back should question the jacket cuz he's seen James where in before (the coach got him a new one) and by then he doesn't have his earbuds in anymore so he heard it and turns around

No that is absolutely perfect. i also figured we could have Abby tell Blake, and then Blake's reaction will be the end, then we can transition to a year later when Alex and James are dating and Tori can come back!
