So... I made this friend a while ago, and he texts me. A lot. And I don't mind much until it keeps going as random stuff that I don't need to hear. Which is exactly what I did to Dexter (sorry Dexter. I understand your pain now.) And I'd do what Dexter did to me to get me to stop, but what he did was... Just flat out ignoring me and I ended up feeling like cr*p, so I don't want to do that to this friend. But how to I get him to not text me unnecessary stuff without

My advice is, as always, that honesty is the best policy, but I know it's not that simple

I guess don't ignore him and blow him off, but don't feel obligated to read and respond to every text message. It doesn't matter how frustrated other people get, you have every right to set boundaries like that for yourself.

oof im sorry :/ I’ve been texting someone like that too - and I don’t really have any good advice but I’d just be honest with them and if they’re someone important they’ll stick around and not take it negatively.
