Ok, so he converted over to a angel because like you said, he just didn't do what he was told and truly did not belong with the rest of demons. He's trying to prove that he's good, and not what he was meant to be. If I had to assume his age, he'd probably be 23-ish when he died. He doesn't remember his past life all that much.
