hi guys , so I really need so many people to understand this . let me put one thing straight : ITS NOT TRENDY TO BE DEPRESSED . oh wait . people are selling t-shirts that actually say : I'm anti-social or SOCIAL ANXIETY . no. social anxiety is fricken serious . depression is serious . it's not wearing black from head to toe and sporting a black on black if aesthetic . it's pills , suicidal thoughts , etc... society sucks. so much. because now for some reason . it's wrong for a girl to feel insecure , but she's too full of herself if she's confident. it's "cheesy" to be happy . and degrading to be feminine .
*ig aesthetic
agreed 100% being sad for a while is different from depression, it should not be made fun of because it is serious. and this could potentionaly hurt someone who has depression. i'm sick and tired of people saying "oh i'm depressed i can't go to bla bla bla" it's annoying and offensive.
I totally understand the social anxiety t-shirt bs. I have social anxiety and sometimes if I need to hand in a late homework assignment, I won't be able to go up to the teacher and give it to him/her/them because I have this fear that the whole class will think I'm "stupid" or "a bad student" for not doing my homework on time, and I don't hand it in. THIS IS A PROBLEM I HAVE AND OTHER PEOPLE HAVE. It is NOT okay to make it trendy.
i just finished a book about a guy who has depression (like actual serious depression) and his friends thought it was cool that he got checked into a psychiatric hospital and they wanted to visit telling him it was cool and interesting. and i fully agree with you. maybe there are some people who think depression is something that doesn't last a long time. maybe some people think it can be 'cured'. i'm pretty sure that depression can't be cured with one pill but by taking pills everyday for a while. and it's not really cured still, it's still there but the person feels better and happier with themselves but i guess it can come back if you start thinking bad thoughts again. this is probably something some people don't understand. i feel like people need to start appreciating how happy their lives are versus someone who's clinically depressed because they're lucky since so many young people actually have depression.
i agree 110%. thank you for putting this out here.
I love you because this is so true it's not a trend it's like when everyone was saying they had OCD but really they didn't it's a real thing there are actual people out there with it and people just throw it around like nothing and it's horrible people don't even know the feeling of depression
